Sport mode upgrade

Hoi,

Iemand ervaring met deze upgrade voor de P987 2.9 pdk ? Originele sport schakelaar bijgeleverd.
Zou van Porsche zelf moeten zijn, dient uitgevoerd te worden in een P garage.

Mijn P heeft geen sportmode, wel pdk en volgens opzoeking zou het een compleet andere wagen zijn na de upgrade.

Benefits of Sport Mode activation:
Sporty tuning of engine Motronic software, PASM, PSM, Tiptronic Transmission (if applicable), all-wheel-drive system (if applicable).
For vehicles with factory Sport Exhaust, the new Sport button would control exhaust settings.
For vehicles with PCM, new personalized settings can now be controlled. Including memory for lights, wiper, climate control, & door lock settings.
For 2009-2012 vehicles with PDK, you get a Sport Plus button with Launch Control and Race Track Shift Strategy. For base model Cayman & Boxster models, launch control is not included.
For Turbo models (2006-2009), Overboost is also added for additional acceleration. NOT compatible with 2010-12 Turbo models.

When the Sport button on the center console is selected, the engine management system enhances the engine response. A modified throttle map relates the pedal angle in the footwell to a much wider angle of opening on the throttle valve. Throttle response is significantly more immediate, and, in the higher gears, a hard rev-limiter helps protect the engine under acceleration.

Vehicles with the optional Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) also switches to Sport mode for harder damping and more direct steering, and, therefore, better road holding. For maximum dexterity, PSM can be set to standby while the car is still in Sport mode. For safety, it is set to intervene automatically only when ABS assistance is required on both the front wheels.

For Tiptronic or PDK transmissions, gearshift points are delayed until the upper rev range. The shift times are shorter, the gear changes sportier. At low rates of deceleration, even with high engine speeds, the system initiates a swifter brake-induced downshift. In manual mode, gear changes are faster and more dynamic. In Sport mode, the trigger threshold for PSM is raised for increased longitudinal and lateral dynamics. Agility is enhanced under braking for corners with PSM, enabling greater handling response under braking and exit acceleration, especially at low speeds.

Fitment: 2005-2012 Carrera, Cayman, & Boxster, and 2006-2009 Turbo models without Sport Chrono or Sport Chrono Plus.

Moet enigzins terugkomen op mijn antwoord: het leuke aan de sport en vooral sport plus is het snel schakelen met tussengas. Voor al in sport plus. Maar als hij in auto mode staat is dat bijna onbruikbaar wegens de hoge toeren, zeer associaal en not-done op de openbare weg. Echter, als je hem in manuele mode zet en in sport plus, dan heb je het voordeel van het snelle schakelen (en bijhorende “plofjes” bij schakelen) zonder het opzichtige lawaai. Voilà….nu moet je nog beslissen of je het laat doen of niet

Zit er bij mij af-fabriek op (is een 3.4 310pk versie) en in de praktijk gebruik ik de sport mode soms, de sport plus nooit. Dat is iets dat alleen bruikbaar is op circuit denk ik, de wagen schakelt pas op aan de rode zone. Idem voor het klokje: staat mooi op het dashboard maar voor de rest weinig nut tenzij je gaat racen.
Ik denk dat het verschil toch vooral gevoelsmatig is. In pure cijfers is het verschil, zo uit het hoofd dus kan er wat naast zitten, bijvoorbeeld 0,1s sneller van 0-100 voor sportmode tegevenover normale mode. En nog eens 0,1s sneller in sport plus. Negligeerbaar dus in normale omstandigheden.
Kort gezegd: ik zou het niet doen als het er niet af-fabriek op staat. Bij verkoop later riskeert dat extra vragen op te roepen.

Ik heb dit laten retro-fitten op de GTS en het werkt perfect, alleen zonder de chronometer op het dashboard. Al moet ik eerlijk toegeven dat ik het niet veel gebruik.
